Brenda Solozano had two good performances on Sunday for the San Rafael Ladies in the T&T Women's Cricket Association Championship Division T20 competition, but only one of these performances earned her team a win.
San Rafael defeated South West United by seven wickets in match one, but then narrowly lost to UWI by five runs.
Solozano, who top-scored with an unbeaten 22, was supported by Makeni Thomas (11 not out).
This helped guide the team to a successful run chase of 74 with three and a half overs to spare against South West. Earlier, Khadijah Rahim was the chief destroyer, taking 4/13 to restrict South West to 73 all out in 15.2 overs.
Reniece Boyce (3/6) added to the demise of the South West batting, while Landa Paradassie was left stranded on 15 not out.
In the second match, Solozano snatched 4/4 and made 19 not out. UWI batted first and made 88/8 off their 20 overs, behind Anastasia Herbert's 20.
Alysha Gomez took two wickets for one run to support Solozano's spell.
In reply, San Rafael could only reach 83/9 in their 20 overs due to Caneisha Isaac's 3/7.
Naasira Mohammed (2/8) and Chrysel James (2/11) bagged two wickets apiece.
This Sunday, matches will continue when Achievers tackles San Rafael at 10 am and UWI at 2 pm.
Both matches will be played at the UWI ground.
