Num­ber-three seed­ed Bre­ana Stampfli of T&T, ad­vanced to the fi­nal of the Girls Sin­gles Un­der-18 cat­e­go­ry yes­ter­day at the St Vin­cent ITF Ju­nior In­ter­na­tion­al Ten­nis Tour­na­ment, when her Cana­di­an op­po­nent An­jana Suresh could not go the dis­tance.

Stampfli won the first set com­fort­ably 6-3, but the fifth seed­ed Suresh fought back to win the sec­ond set 7-5 to set up an ex­cit­ing fi­nal set. Un­for­tu­nate­ly, with Stampfli lead­ing 2-1 in the third set, Suresh was forced to re­tire due to a wrist in­jury.

Stampfli will meet Si­mone Pratt of Ba­hamas to­day in the fi­nal as Pratt fought back to win her semi­fi­nal match against Ryan Suresh of USA. Af­ter los­ing the first set 5-7, the num­ber one seed­ed Pratt bounced back to win the sec­ond and third sets, 6-4, 6-3. When Stampfli and Pratt met in the St Lu­cia ITF fi­nal last week, Pratt rolled over Stampfli 6-0, 6-0.

In the all-Amer­i­can Boys U-18 Sin­gles Semi­fi­nal, Myles Schalet and Sa­mi Kir­berg de­feat­ed Jesse Rud­er-Hook and Gui Gomes re­spec­tive­ly to ad­vance to to­day's fi­nal. Schalet got past Rud­er-Hook 6-2, 6-2, while Kir­berg out­last­ed Gomes 7-6, 6-2.
