Tobago-born athlete Willon Nurse will not participate in the UWI SPEC International Half-Marathon on Sunday to win, but to raise more awareness for national footballer Akeem Adams, who is still in critical condition.
Adams, 22, who plays for Ferencvarosi TC in Hungary, suffered a heart attack on September 25. Following the heart attack, Adams' left leg had to be amputated, in what was called a life-saving surgery.
Since September 25, thousands of citizens from T&T and around the world have been playing their part to ensure Adams has a speedy recovery. Proceeds from the International friendly on October 15 between T&T and NZ at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo went towards Adams' recovery.
