T&T second in Caribbean equestrian

T&T's team of Patrice Stollmey­er, An­ja Tay­lor and Amy Costel­loe placed sec­ond in the re­cent Caribbean Eques­tri­an As­so­ci­a­tion's Mi­ni Dres­sage com­pe­ti­tion at the Sad­dle Val­ley Sta­bles on June 7.

T&T scored 69.69, 67.20 and 66.60 re­spec­tive­ly, for a com­bined score of 203.49 which placed them be­hind Bermu­da (210.08). Bar­ba­dos (200.34) was third.

The oth­er com­pet­ing coun­try was Cay­man Is­lands.

Stollmey­er, hav­ing had her per­son­al best in 2013, with the high­est score ever record­ed by a T&T team mem­ber of 75.17 per cent, placed first in the first lev­el test three di­vi­sion. Am­briel Weath­er­ly, now at­tend­ing uni­ver­si­ty abroad, was sec­ond on "Takeover", with 63.54, while Nik­ki Cha­toor-Grainger on "Un­bri­dled Dream" with 60.80 was third and Fran­ka Costel­loe fourth on "Viking Thun­der" with 60.32.

Tay­lor and Costel­loe com­pet­ed in the train­ing lev­el test three for adults, and Tay­lor placed first with Costel­loe sec­ond. Stollmey­er had ob­tained the adult high score of the day giv­ing her the cham­pi­on rid­er adult ti­tle, and Tay­lor with the sec­ond high­est adult score, is the re­serve cham­pi­on adult.

In the chil­dren's di­vi­sion, Brynn Eng­lish was first in the 1st lev­el test three on "No­bil LX", and first in the train­ing lev­el test three with a score of 69.40, giv­ing her the cham­pi­on rid­er ti­tle for the ju­niors. Re­serve was Syd­ney Navar­ro on "Un­bri­dled Dream", and the third and fourth po­si­tions went to Hadley Ra­hael on "Zeus" and Michelle Sab­ga-Aboud on "Takeover".

Ra­hael and Sab­ga-Aboud will trav­el to Mass­a­chu­setts in Au­gust for the Chil­dren of the Amer­i­c­as Dres­sage In­ter­na­tion­al (CA­DI) com­pe­ti­tion, and Ra­hael took the op­por­tu­ni­ty to show­case her freestyle dres­sage, earn­ing a score of 64.46 on "Zeus".

The rid­ers in this com­pe­ti­tion hailed from three of the coun­try's lead­ing sta­bles; Good­win Heights, Sad­dle Val­ley Sta­bles and Stollmey­er Sta­bles. Just pri­or to the com­pe­ti­tion, the Flori­da-based dres­sage train­er, Gre­ta Wrigley was brought to T&T specif­i­cal­ly to pre­pare the rid­ers. Many of them earned their per­son­al bests.

The com­pe­ti­tion was judged by Jeanne Mc­Don­ald, who trav­eled to each ter­ri­to­ry dur­ing a two-month pe­ri­od. Mc­Don­ald is an FEI "I" and USEF "S" dres­sage Judge, a US­DF/USEF dres­sage judge and a US­DF bronze, sil­ver, and gold medal­ist.
