The T&T girls team had to set­tle for sil­ver at the Ju­nior Caribbean Area Squash As­so­ci­a­tion (Casa) Cham­pi­onships in Bermu­da, as top-ranked Guyana proved too strong in the best-of-five fi­nal se­ries, yes­ter­day.Guyana edged fourth-ranked T&T 3-2 be­hind wins from Make­da Hard­ing, Tay­lor Fer­nan­des and Vic­to­ria Ar­joon. Alexan­dria Year­wood and Char­lotte Knag­gs snatched con­so­la­tion wins for T&T.

In the Un­der-13 cat­e­go­ry, Hard­ing eased past T&T's Ji­nan Al Rawi 11-4, 11-3, 11-0. Fer­nan­des (U-17) and Ar­joon (U-19) al­so won in straight sets de­feat­ing Faith Gillezeau and Marie-Claire Bar­cant, re­spec­tive­ly.In an­oth­er U-19 match, Knag­gs con­tin­ued her dom­i­na­tion in the tour­na­ment out­last­ing Akela Wilt­shire 11-8, 11-8, 11-9. On Tues­day, Knag­gs got the bet­ter of Wilt­shire in the girls U-19 sin­gles fi­nal in four sets. Year­wood need­ed four sets to get past Re­beeca Low, pre­vail­ing 11-7, 9-11, 11-5, 11-5.

The T&T boys al­so ranked fourth, end­ed the tour­na­ment on a high de­feat­ing third-ranked Bar­ba­dos 3-2 in the third-place play-off. T&T won both match­es in the U-19 cat­e­go­ry with Chris­t­ian Edghill and Nku Patrick both record­ing straight set vic­to­ries. Chad Sa­landy sealed bronze for T&T in the U-17 cat­e­go­ry with a four-set win over Ben­jamin Grif­fin. Christo­pher An­tho­ny and Nicholas Cad­dle were on the los­ing end for T&T.Team T&T will re­turn home to­mor­row, ex­cept for Knag­gs who will trav­el to Glas­gow, Scot­land, to rep­re­sent T&T at the Com­mon­wealth Games from Ju­ly 23�Au­gust 3.
