State-owned energy company National Gas Company (NGC) will partner with the National Association of Athletics Administrations to host a two-day jumps clinic next month.
The sessions will take place on March the 13 and 14 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Woodbrook, Port-of-Spain starting at 9 am daily until 4.30 pm.
Jeremy Fischer, lead coach and programme manager at United States of America (USA) Olympic Training Center in San Diego California, is the facilitator of the clinic. Fischer spent five seasons at the University of Oklahoma as the men's and women's Jumps and Multis coach. Fischer is now working as a coach at the Olympic Training Center. The success of Fischer's jumpers helped propel him to earn Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year, his second major coaching honour. In 2007 Fischer earned the Midwest Region Men's Jumps/Combined Events Coach of the Year award.
Prior to Oklahoma, Fischer had stints at Cal-State Northridge and Wisconsin. As an athlete, Fischer was a world-class high jumper at Wisconsin where he earned All-America and All-Big Ten honours during his time as a Badger. Fischer placed seventh in the high jump at the 2000 USA Olympic Trials.
Fischer has worked with class athletes such as Brittany Reese, World and Olympic champion in the long jump and Will Claye who medalled in the long and triple jump, at the 2012 Olympics.
