More medals for junior cyclists

Na­tion­al ju­nior cy­clist Kol­lyn St George added an­oth­er gold medal to her col­lec­tion, win­ning the ju­nior women's 500 me­tres time tri­al at the Ju­nior Pan Amer­i­can Cy­cling Cham­pi­onships in Aguas­calientes, Mex­i­co, on Tues­day night.

Sei Daniel al­so got on the podi­um for T&T, grab­bing bronze in the ju­nior men's keirin to push T&T's medal tal­ly to three. St George broke the na­tion­al ju­nior, na­tion­al elite and ju­nior Pan Amer­i­can record when she stopped the clock in 35.04 sec­onds.

Keiana Lester al­so com­pet­ed in the time tri­al, falling just shy of an­oth­er medal for T&T af­ter plac­ing an ag­o­nis­ing fourth. On Mon­day night Lester and St George won gold in the ju­nior women's team sprint. In his first out­ing at the Ju­nior Pan Games, Tyler Cole fin­ished fifth in the ju­nior men's scratch event.

Up to press time last night, St George and Lester qual­i­fied for the quar­ter-fi­nals of the women's in­di­vid­ual sprint.

St George crushed the na­tion­al ju­nior and elite records with a time of 11.854, break­ing the pre­vi­ous time of 12.235 set in 2013 at the same venue. Lester al­so went un­der the pre­vi­ous record, set­ting a per­son­al best with a time of 12.001 sec­onds. St. George qual­i­fied with the sixth fastest time, while Lester was eighth fastest.

Al­so com­pet­ing yes­ter­day were Cole in the men's om­ni­um, Te­niel Camp­bell in the women's 2km in­di­vid­ual pur­suit and Ra­mon Bel­montes in the men's points race.
