National cricketers Daron Cruickshank and Akeal Hosein moved Queen's Park closer to the T&T Cricket Board Sunday League 50-over title with a convincing 168-run win over Jenexcon Tableland in round seven at Tableland, yesterday.
With two rounds remaining the Parkites are now one win away from the clinching the title. Right-handed Cruickshank cracked 94 to guide Queen's Park to a massive 299/9 in 50 overs. Other national players Jeremy Solozano and Kevon Cooper also showed some form, scoring 44 and 36 respectively. Negus Carthy was the best bowler for Tableland grabbing 3/48, while Chanderpaul Hemraj snatched 2/50.
In reply Tableland could only muster 131 all out in 25 overs as left-arm spinner Hosein picked up 6/32 and Khary Pierre took 2/34. William Perkins was the top scorer for Tableland scoring 30, while Carthy was stranded on an unbeaten 24.
Powergen and Merry Boys also won yesterday to stay in contention for the title. Queen's Park in on top with 21 points, while Powergen and Merry Boys both have 15 points. The Parkites play Merry Boys in round eight and Powergen in the last round. If two teams finish on the same number of points the team that won the match when the two teams played will win the title.
