QPCC closes in on Sunday League title

Na­tion­al crick­eters Daron Cruick­shank and Akeal Ho­sein moved Queen's Park clos­er to the T&T Crick­et Board Sun­day League 50-over ti­tle with a con­vinc­ing 168-run win over Jenex­con Table­land in round sev­en at Table­land, yes­ter­day.

With two rounds re­main­ing the Parkites are now one win away from the clinch­ing the ti­tle. Right-hand­ed Cruick­shank cracked 94 to guide Queen's Park to a mas­sive 299/9 in 50 overs. Oth­er na­tion­al play­ers Je­re­my Solozano and Kevon Coop­er al­so showed some form, scor­ing 44 and 36 re­spec­tive­ly. Ne­gus Carthy was the best bowler for Table­land grab­bing 3/48, while Chan­der­paul Hem­raj snatched 2/50.

In re­ply Table­land could on­ly muster 131 all out in 25 overs as left-arm spin­ner Ho­sein picked up 6/32 and Khary Pierre took 2/34. William Perkins was the top scor­er for Table­land scor­ing 30, while Carthy was strand­ed on an un­beat­en 24.

Pow­er­gen and Mer­ry Boys al­so won yes­ter­day to stay in con­tention for the ti­tle. Queen's Park in on top with 21 points, while Pow­er­gen and Mer­ry Boys both have 15 points. The Parkites play Mer­ry Boys in round eight and Pow­er­gen in the last round. If two teams fin­ish on the same num­ber of points the team that won the match when the two teams played will win the ti­tle.
