The T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) is looking to bring back three-day cricket for the local league next season.
Guardian Sports understands that the board informed the national league clubs that they will revert to three-day cricket for the league as they did last year and do away with the two-day league they played this season because of financial problems.
The board has proposed to the clubs that three of their seven matches will get off on a Friday and end on the Sunday.
The other four league matches will start on a Saturday and finish the following Saturday and Sunday.
The board has also agreed to play the 50-over league among clubs and not zones, as they did this past season. Due to financial constraints faced by the clubs, the board decided to host the 50-over tournament and played as an Interzone series. This brought out the best talent in the country and the 50-over created tremendous interest.
The 50-over competition will be played on the Sundays and the Twenty20 (T20) tournament will be played within a two-week period as a "Festival" which has been the case over the past few seasons. The board is also looking to start the local cricket season on January 19.
The TTCB is moving ahead with putting committees together to run the league and the members will meet on Monday to put that in place. The intention is to play all seven matches from the following season starting on a Friday but the board is using this season as a pilot project and will have three rounds starting on a Friday.
Clubs will soon meet with the board to finalise all the details about the three competitions. Some clubs have already started preparations for the new season.
