T&T international Kaile Auvray scored twice and Shaquille Stein a hat-trick as Cavalier FC of Jamaica slammed Dominican Republic's Moca FC 7-0 in the second leg of their 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup (CCC) semifinal for a 7-0 aggregate win at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica on Wednesday night.
Auvray put the hosts in the lead as early as the first minute when his intended left-sided cross from near the left byline was misjudged by Moca FC goalkeeper Miguel Baez and nestled into the far corner of the net.
Within six minutes Stein extended the lead for Cavalier with a header inside the box which wrong-footed Baez off a right-sided cross from Jalmaro Calvin.
Six minutes before the interval Christopher Ainsworth converted from the penalty spot to further the lead for the home side 3-0 after the referee was asked to review an infringement via the Video Assistant Referee for a foul on Auvray.
It got worse for the visitors three minutes into time added-on at the end of the first half with Stein firing home from close range for a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.
Before the teams left the field, tempers flared between both teams with Moca FC goalkeeper Baez being issued a red card in the 45'+5 along with Jesus Correa, leaving Moca to play the second half with nine players.
On the resumption, Pascual Ramírez took over in goal after entering for outfield player Victor Sanchez, but the goals continued to flow for the host with 20-year-old Auvray collecting his brace in the 51st minute with a low left-footed shot from outside the box.
Stein completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute with his tournament-leading seventh goal of the competition when he pounced on a rebound inside the six-yard box after Ramirez denied a Dwayne Atkinson effort to extend the lead to 6-0, by six.
Atkinson eventually got his name on the scoresheet in the 79th from a penalty kick attempt to complete the Cavalier victory.
Runners-up in the 2023 edition, Cavalier FC sealed a return to the Caribbean Cup final for a consecutive occasion and also clinched their participation in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup while Moca FC will contest the third place match which will decide the third berth to the Champions Cup from the Caribbean region.
