USA-based top T&T swimmer Dylan Carter closed his participation at the TYR Pro Swim Series with a fifth-place finish in the men’s 100m freestyle A-final in Clovis, California on Saturday night.
Swimming out of lane two in the eight-man field, Carter, a graduate of the University of Southern California, got home in 49.64 seconds.
However, the quartet of Michael Chadwick (48.70), Cristian Quintero (49.43), Peter Holoda (49.46) and Tate Jackson (49.55) all finished ahead of the T&T swimmer competing from lane four, six, three and five respectively.
The trio of Townley Haas (49.74), Federico Grabich (50.31) and Gabe Castano (51.03) ended in sixth, seventh and eighth spot respectively.
On Saturday morning in the heats, Carter was second in the sixth and final 100m freestyle swim in 50.08 seconds, for the fifth fastest time overall while Holoda won in 49.54, the third best in the heats.
Grabich was third in 50.11 and Haas, fourth in 50.15 to secure their spot in the gold medal splash while Gianluca Urlando (50.64), Bradley Tandy (50.71), and Michael Lincoln (52.38) were the others in the heat.
Chadwick was the top qualifier overall with a time of 4o.36, ahead of Jackson (49.46) while Quintero (49.64) and Castano (50.22) were fourth and eighth best respectively.
