Top T&T swimmer Dylan Carter ended in the fourth position in the Men's 100m backstroke A-final in a time of 54.72 seconds to trail Matt Grevers who won in 53.59, at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Clovis, California on Friday night.
Justin Ress secured a fighting second place finish in 54.25, while Markus Thormeyer (54.50) was third. The other finishers in the A-final were Chris Staka (55.83), Gianluca Urlando (56.82), Kristofer Rogic (56.93), and Andy Song (56.96).
When the meet ended last night, Carter still had a chance for an elusive top three finish when he contested the men's 100m freestyle final against Michael Chadwick, Tate Jackson, Cristian Quintero, Gabe Castano, Peter Holoda, Federico Grabich and Townley Haas.
This after Carter was second in the sixth and final 100m freestyle heat in yesterday morning's session in 50.08 seconds, for the fifth fastest time overall, while Holoda won in 49.54, the third best in the heats.
Grabich was third in 50.11 and Haas, fourth in 50.15 to secure their spot in the gold medal splash while Urlando (50.64), Bradley Tandy (50.71), and Michael Lincoln (52.38) were the others in the heat.
Chadwick was the top qualifier overall with a time of 4o.36, ahead of Jackson (49.46) while Quintero (49.64) and Castano (50.22) were fourth and eighth best respectively.
