The new 'Home of Football' at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Balmain, Couva will be the venue for Central Football Association's (CFA) Ramsingh Sportworld FA Cup final and third and fourth place play-offs matches on September 14.
Competing for the title prize and bragging rights will be Giants FC, which got the better of current leaders of the League Central Soccerworld in the semi-finals 5-4 on penalties, and Harlem Strikers, which got goals from Leroy Whiley and Victor De Silva in a 2-0 triumph over Leeds FC in the round of four two weeks ago.
Both Leeds FC and Central Soccerworld will be the contenders for third-fourth, by virtue of losing in the semis.
Yesterday Clynt Taylor, the CFA's Secretary General and Gregory Mc Sween, a member of his executive, said the League, considered one of the better run Regional Association competitions in T&T, has agreed to spread its wings and open up to all potential football teams and clubs in the central area. Taylor, who was a competitive candidate at the TT Football Association's presidential elections in 2015, has been leading the charge in the CFA becoming a model for other associations. He believes if young people are given a product of worth, they will gravitate to it, thereby ensuring the CFA successfully fights the scourge of crime sweeping through the land.
According to Taylor, his association is hoping to get between 5000- 10, 000 fans for the event which will be funded by Nal Ramsingh, a long-standing sponsor of central football. Taylor said apart from promoting his League as the place to be in central football, his association also intends to raise funds to maintain its youth development programmes and other initiatives moving forward.
The day's activities are expected to feature live entertainment from Soca artistes Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons, as well as performances from Ravi B, KI, Harlem Strikers Tassa Group and more entertainment from DJ Extreme Sounds, all in an after football lime, while entry for the match will be $20 for adults and free for children under the age of 12 years.
