Reigning champion team Naparima College will be at ease when they take on East Mucurapo in their second Premier Division clash of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) at Fatima Grounds in Mucurapo on Saturday.
The southerners were uneasy after their decision to alter the official SSFL uniforms, left them facing a penalty after the opening day of the tournament.
However, a release by the executives of the schools' league that they would recommend that no action be taken against them, would have eased some nerves, although the final decision rests entirely in the hands of the general council when it meets Monday.
Coach Angus Eve and company will be able to breathe now, considering their opponents are fresh off the heels of beating Queen's Royal College (QRC) 6-0 at the same venue. The southerners prevailed 3-0 in their first match against St Mary's College at home, but it will now be their first match on the road, in unfamiliar territory, where they face a tricky contest.
Mucurapo may also fancy the opportunity to beat the triple crown winners of the 2018 Premier Division League, the South Zone Intercol and the National Intercol.
Presentation (SanFernando) which were also big winners on the opening day of the SSFL on Wednesday afternoon, will attempt to continue their winning ways against Carapichaima on the road.
'Pres' as they are affectionately called, clobbered a young Trinity Moka outfit 6-0, a result that came after they were beaten by their arch-rivals Naparima for the Digicel Cup on Saturday last. Carapichaima, on the other hand, was on a bye.
Meanwhile, St Anthony's, which drew their first encounter with St Augustine 1-1, will be eager to make amends against Speyside at home.
The Tobagonians will be paddling up the same stream, after being hammered by Malick Secondary 0-5 in the sister-isle, and would need their players to rise to the challenge if they are to receive maximum points today.
Malick's return to the top flight schools league has been met with excitement and huge expectations, which they are expected to deliver on Saturday when they travel to Moka, Maraval for their date with the home team Trinity Moka.
National coach Dennis Lawrence, during a charity match to help his alma mater a month ago, said he believes the team has what it takes to do well in the tournament, as they boast of having a crop of good players. All matches begin at 3:30 pm.
