Former national Under-23 standout Kadeem Corbin scored a first-half beaver trick to inspire Wolf Pack to an emphatic 14-0 hammering of Morin Bay United when the Helping Hand Foundation Anthony Wolfe Sweet 16 Football League continued at the Ojoe Road Recreation Ground, Sangre Grande on Friday.
Corbin got his goals in the 15th, 35th, 41st, and 43rd minutes while Kaydion Gabriel (17th, 60th), Kevon Woodley (18th, 30th), and Elton John (79th, 81st) chipped in with two goals each, and the quartet of Ryan O’Neil (6th), Aikim Andrews (42nd), Johnny Noreiga (67th), and Jameel Perry (85th), the others in the one-sided contest.
In the first match on Friday last, Manzan United got a second-half brace from Tevin Pantor in the 57th and 60th minutes after Andre Jordan’s 21st-minute opener in a 3-0 triumph over Tamana United.
G Madrid also earned a 3-0 win against Futuristic led by two goals from Ronaldo Ragoo in the 28th, and the 90th with Joshua Bishop, the other scorer in the 25th on Thursday, while Plum Road United battled past Vega United 2-1 thanks to strikes from Gabby Cooper in the 31st, and Romario Williams, ten minutes into the second to cancel out Nathaniel Bailey’s 34th reply.
Following the completion of the round-robin stage on September 30, the “Big Eight” will kick off on October 2 while the knockout tournament begins on October 7.
The winners of the league will walk away with $30,000 while the second gets $10,000, the third will take home $5,000, and the fourth, $2,500 while the knockout winners will get $5,000 and the second place finisher, $2,000.
In addition, there will be individual awards of $500 each for “Best Striker”, “Best Defender”, “Best Goalkeeper”, “Best Midfielder”, “Most Goals” and “Most Valuable Player” while the “Most Discipline Team” and the “Best Under-20 player” will collect $1,000.
