De­fend­ing cham­pi­on Chris Richards Jr con­tin­ues to trail his main ri­val Zi­co Cor­reira in their head-to-head bat­tle for top ho­n­ours af­ter the sec­ond day of play in the Re­pub­lic Bank 20th edi­tion of the T&T Ju­nior Golf Open Cham­pi­onships at the Ch­aguara­mas Golf Course, Ch­aguara­mas, on Thursday.

Cor­reira, who won the Cham­pi­onship flight ti­tle at the T&T Golf Open at St An­drew’s Golf Course in Mo­ka, Mar­aval last month, fol­lowed up his 71 on open­ing day Wednes­day with a 74, to lead by the boys 16-18 age group by two strokes from Richards Jr, who pro­duced one bet­ter than the 74 he shot on Wednes­day to be two shots adrift of Cor­reira.

Ay­den Ali, who was press­ing for the first day with an im­pres­sive 73 on day one, strug­gled with the greens to re­turn 80, while Alex Kan­goo shot an 84, Jer­seen Boodram (81), Adam Fur­longe (90), and Clarence Gor­don (108).

Ja­da Charles, the reign­ing Brechin Cas­tle Open cham­pi­on, fol­lowed up her 85 on Wednes­day with 86 yes­ter­day in her ef­forts for ti­tle ho­n­ours in the Chole Ajo­dah, the de­fend­ing cham­pi­on and win­ner of the Pointe-a-Pierre tour­na­ment, who is not par­tic­i­pat­ing be­cause of ex­ams.

Mean­while, Ross Ramkissoon fol­lowed up his first-day score of 77 with a 76 to stay in com­mand of the Boy’s 14-15 age group. The biggest im­prove­ment on the day’s pro­gramme was dis­played by Adam Lum Hee, who shoot a 98 on the first day and 86 yes­ter­day to hold on to sec­ond place with Daniel Ali third with 100 to bet­ter the 105 in the first round of play.
