Defending champion Chris Richards Jr continues to trail his main rival Zico Correira in their head-to-head battle for top honours after the second day of play in the Republic Bank 20th edition of the T&T Junior Golf Open Championships at the Chaguaramas Golf Course, Chaguaramas, on Thursday.
Correira, who won the Championship flight title at the T&T Golf Open at St Andrew’s Golf Course in Moka, Maraval last month, followed up his 71 on opening day Wednesday with a 74, to lead by the boys 16-18 age group by two strokes from Richards Jr, who produced one better than the 74 he shot on Wednesday to be two shots adrift of Correira.
Ayden Ali, who was pressing for the first day with an impressive 73 on day one, struggled with the greens to return 80, while Alex Kangoo shot an 84, Jerseen Boodram (81), Adam Furlonge (90), and Clarence Gordon (108).
Jada Charles, the reigning Brechin Castle Open champion, followed up her 85 on Wednesday with 86 yesterday in her efforts for title honours in the Chole Ajodah, the defending champion and winner of the Pointe-a-Pierre tournament, who is not participating because of exams.
Meanwhile, Ross Ramkissoon followed up his first-day score of 77 with a 76 to stay in command of the Boy’s 14-15 age group. The biggest improvement on the day’s programme was displayed by Adam Lum Hee, who shoot a 98 on the first day and 86 yesterday to hold on to second place with Daniel Ali third with 100 to better the 105 in the first round of play.
