?Prime Minister Patrick Manning via a media release, sent congratulations to the T&T cricket team after claiming its third straight win in the the Airtel Champions League Twenty 20 tournament being played in India.
"I am overjoyed at the victory of these young men in this tournament. It is always heartening when citizens of our country go abroad and make us proud by doing their best. The spirit which they have shown is indicative of the passion and drive that exists in all of us, we must embrace it," said the PM. He said on behalf of the Government and people of the twin island "we urge them to continue to play with heart and determination and we wish them every success as they continue towards victory."
The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA) also congratulated the T&T senior cricket team on their continued success at the Champions League T20 Cricket Competition in India. The National Team, thus far, has shown great passion and fortitude in their one day matches against teams such as Somerset, New South Wales and the Deccan Chargers, who were the Indian Professional League Champs.
The players have demonstrated confidence in their approach to the game and their victories in these consecutive one day matches are indeed a true demonstration of their abilities, both individually and collectively. The Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs the Honourable Minister Gary Hunt commends the team and will continue to look on with keen interest as our teams moves on to the semi-finals of the tournament.
