St Pius Boys RC came out as Na­tion­al Cham­pi­ons in the Su­per Skills Seg­ment of the Guardian Life Un­der-10 Crick­et De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme which con­clud­ed yes­ter­day at the Sir Frank Wor­rell De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre, Bal­main Cou­va. Pius de­feat­ed Plum Mit­ian Pres­by­ter­ian in the fi­nal to take the ti­tle. The Pro­gramme con­sist­ed of six seg­ments, which al­so in­clud­ed the Ex­er­cise Books, Art and Craft, Match, Teach­ers of the Dis­trict and Na­tion­al Class­room seg­ments.

Dud­nath Ramkessoon 1st vice-pres­i­dent of the T&T Crick­et Board told the gath­er­ing at the clos­ing cer­e­mo­ny that the board will con­tin­ue to work close­ly with the Na­tion­al Pri­ma­ry Schools League. "We are com­mit­ted to see­ing the de­vel­op­ment of the sport and we are go­ing to do all that we can. We are not just con­cerned about the men's form of the game, but the women as well, said Ramkessoon.

He as­sured the stu­dents that the board's an­nu­al de­vel­op­ment tours will con­tin­ue and that the board is aim­ing to en­sure that each school has a coach. Guardian Life's Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Man­ag­er Neisha Ramkessoon said Guardian Life is pleased to be as­so­ci­at­ed with the pro­gramme and it will con­tin­ue to give its sup­port in help­ing in the de­vel­op­ment of the sport in T&T.
