The Presentation College spin combination of Brian Charles and Justin Joseph helped Central rout South West for 93 off 44.4 overs, before Camil Pooran sealed a nine wicket win on the opening day of the 2010 BG T&T U-15 Inter Zonal 50 overs tournament. Playing at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva, South West was sent into bat and the plan worked well for Central. The visiting team was up against it early, as the batsmen found it hard to get the ball off the square.
The team was aided by a number of wides in the first four overs, however, with the introduction of spin in the fifth, it got tougher. The spin pair of Charles and Joseph accounted for eight wickets as the South West batsmen failed to come to grips with the bowling, with extras topscoring with 36, including 26 wides, 4 leg-byes, 4 byes and 3 no balls.
Only Stefan Seepersaud (13), Denzil Rampersaud (13) and Keyron Ramlal (10) got to double figures. Charles finished with figures of 5 for 11 from 8.4 overs, which included 5 maidens, while Joseph took 3 for 10 from ten overs including 6 maidens. In reply Central reached 94 for one off 20 overs with the Diminutive right-handed Pooran stroking an unbeaten 44 which included 5 fours. Central will take on Tobago in the only match today at the same venue.
