Guyanese open­ing bats­man Travis Dowl­in will lead the West In­dies 'A' team for their three-match se­ries against the vis­it­ing Zim­bab­we na­tion­al crick­et team.

At the Board's AGM on March 27 in Ja­maica, the di­rec­tors rat­i­fied the squad but did not name a cap­tain. T&T Guardian, how­ev­er, un­der­stands that the right-hand­ed Dowl­in, who has been a fix­ture on the West In­dies se­nior team since Bangladesh in 2009, will be at the helm.The West In­dies 'A' team will as­sem­ble in Grena­da on Tues­day and will play their first match, a four-day af­fair, from next Fri­day.

This will be fol­lowed by two T20 match­es on April 22 and April 24, al­so in Grena­da. The Zim­bab­weans are us­ing the se­ries as prepa­ra­tion for the up­com­ing In­ter­na­tion­al Crick­et Coun­cil (ICC) T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, start­ing on April 30.

At the con­clu­sion of this as­sign­ment the West In­dies 'A' team will trav­el to Bangladesh and then Eng­land. It is un­der­stood that the WICB is cur­rent­ly toy­ing with the choice of ei­ther T&T's Daren Gan­ga or Ja­maican Wavell Hinds for the oth­er tours.

Dif­fer­ent teams will be cho­sen for these two tours.
