Guyanese opening batsman Travis Dowlin will lead the West Indies 'A' team for their three-match series against the visiting Zimbabwe national cricket team.
At the Board's AGM on March 27 in Jamaica, the directors ratified the squad but did not name a captain. T&T Guardian, however, understands that the right-handed Dowlin, who has been a fixture on the West Indies senior team since Bangladesh in 2009, will be at the helm. The West Indies 'A' team will assemble in Grenada on Tuesday and will play their first match, a four-day affair, from next Friday.
This will be followed by two T20 matches on April 22 and April 24, also in Grenada. The Zimbabweans are using the series as preparation for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, starting on April 30.
At the conclusion of this assignment the West Indies 'A' team will travel to Bangladesh and then England. It is understood that the WICB is currently toying with the choice of either T&T's Daren Ganga or Jamaican Wavell Hinds for the other tours.
Different teams will be chosen for these two tours.
