Vet­er­an sports ad­min­is­tra­tor Tony Har­ford was re-elect­ed to serve an­oth­er two-year term as chair­man of the Cli­co Preysal Crick­et Club dur­ing its An­nu­al Gen­er­al Meet­ing on Sun­day. This is his fifth con­sec­u­tive term with­out op­po­si­tion. Club co-founder, Manzur Baksh is vice chair while Ca­mal Bas­deo and Be­de Ot­t­ley will re­turn as sec­re­tary and trea­sur­er re­spec­tive­ly. The oth­er mem­bers of the man­age­ment will be Rangy Nanan, Kishiree Ramdeen and Rishi Dookran.

Preysal, now cel­e­brat­ing its 60th an­niver­sary, has been spon­sored by Cli­co for the past 13 years, al­though spon­sor­ship has been re­duced to just 25 per cent of the club's an­nu­al $1 mil­lion bud­get since the melt­down at the com­pa­ny. The club's au­dit­ed ac­counts show a deficit in the last fi­nan­cial year of $81,000. The club reaf­firmed it's com­mit­ment to Cli­co and will car­ry the brand next sea­son. How­ev­er, the chair­man re­vealed plans to at­tract a team of cat­e­go­ry spon­sors to the club to fill the breach.

The club has al­so ren­o­vat­ed its re­la­tion­ship with the lo­cal cor­po­ra­tion, with a view to hav­ing the In­shan Ali Park des­ig­nat­ed a crick­et fa­cil­i­ty while the near­by Preysal Recre­ation Ground will be used for both wind­ball crick­et and recre­ation­al foot­ball. Oth­er im­prove­ment works are be­ing un­der­tak­en be­fore the start of the 2011 sea­son.
