"In order for Queen's Park to remain relevant the leadership must be visionary and dynamic and I must say the leaders have shown that they are capable of this. "We are proud of the achievements of Queen's Park Cricket Club and we are happy to celebrate with you all tonight. Cricket is in good health and growing and once we keep being innovative we will continue to prosper.

"I know that the results from the West Indies Cricket team have not been good but if you look closely, there is sure to be a silver lining and maybe that is the start of the Sagicor Academy, or the resumption of 'A' team tours or even the performance of our women cricketers."

Also speaking at the gala function was actor Glenn Davis, the brother of cricket manager at the Oval, Bryan Davis. In his very lively delivery he urged the young players to use being a member of Queen's Park to their advantage. "Be it sport, business or entertainment, use the club to advance, use it, use it , use it." He also said that the proud Queen's Park Cricket Club tradition must continue and every member must do his part to make his club a better one.
