The fu­ner­al ser­vice for T&T's first world ti­tle box­er, Claude Noel, took place on Sat­ur­day (June 10) at 4 pm, at the Chapel of Allen's Fu­ner­al Home in Ari­ma. Noel was cre­mat­ed soon af­ter the ser­vice.

Dur­ing his eu­lo­gy, Noel's son Claude Noel Jr said:

"One thing for sure, he def­i­nite­ly want­ed every­body to work on some­thing and that's to be some­thing greater than what you are. He al­ways want­ed peo­ple to think crit­i­cal and to think out­side the box. He be­lieved in Trinidad and To­ba­go as one and not sep­a­rate is­lands. He be­lieved the in­vest­ment in this soil that we have is yours to have."

Noel Jr said his fa­ther al­ways want­ed the youths of the na­tion to know that the fu­ture is in their hands. Noel died on May 21 at the age of 74 af­ter a lengthy bat­tle with di­a­betes.

Pas­tor Mar­lon Al­varez de­liv­ered the Ser­mon and the fi­nal com­men­da­tion.

Claude Noel's crown­ing mo­ment in the box­ing ring was in 1981 when he de­feat­ed Rodol­fo Gon­za­les, on points, for the WBA ti­tle in At­lantic City, New Jer­sey.
