Universal Flippers and Travellers registered their second straight wins in the Harvard Club April Fest Windall Cricket Tournament.
After beating Cheers by three wickets on the second night of action on April 5 at the Club's car park on Tragerete Road St Clair, Flippers got the better of WSC in a close encounter one week later.
WSC batted first and was dismissed 31 in 7.2 of the eight overs. In reply, Flippers surpassed their victory target of 31 ending on 35 for 4 with one over to spare to secure their second win.
Flippers' Sheldon Lloyd was named "Player of the Match" after taking three wickets. WSC was going for a second win after overcoming One Bounce by five wickets in the opening match of the tournament on April 5.
Travellers followed up their commanding eight-wicket triumph over hosts Harvard Warriors two weeks ago with a similar four-wicket whipping of Hit List in a high-scoring game.
Hit List was dismissed for a challenging total of 42. Marlon Bhim (8) and Imran Khan (7) were the top scorers for Hit List.
However, Travellers rose to the challenge and got to 43 for the loss of seven wickets to prevail with two balls remaining thanks to man of the match Shaquille Hingwan who notched 14 runs, the highest individual score thus far.
One Bounce rebounded from their opening defeat to resoundingly beat Cheers by 18 runs.
Taking to the crease first, One Bounce amassed 33 for eight. with Varindra Jagrup the top batsman with seven. The One Bounce bowlers then dismantled the Cheers batting line-up for 15 runs to romp to an 18-run victory. Jon-Ross Dookie led the bowling assault taking two wickets for two runs. He was named "Player of the Match".
Home team Harvard suffered their second consecutive loss last Friday after they were crushed by 31 runs by the D'Crushers who blasted to a tournament-high of 49 runs for the loss of four wickets. Dillon Sankar led the batting for D'Crushers. The imposing total proved insurmountable for the Harvard players who were bowled out for 18. Sankar took home the "Player of the Match" honours.
Defending champions Ban From D'Park got their title defence off to a winning start with a comprehensive nine wickets defeat of D'Drinks Spot who was dismissed for 24. Kapil Harry remained at the crease 11 not out. Millet was the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 wickets for two runs. Ban From D'Park then cruised to 25 runs while losing one wicket. Millet was adjudged the "Player of the Match".
Action continues this afternoon with Flippers going for victory number three when they face One Bounce at 8 pm. Travellers will also be aiming for their third triumph going up against D'Crushers from 9.30 pm.
