Warner assists U-19 ruggermen
Fifa vice-president Jack Warner
Fifa vice-president and Concacaf boss, Jack Warner has once again shown his love for not only sport, but youth and national development. Warner, special advisor to the T&T Football Federation has now come to the assistance of the T&T Under-19 rugby team which is preparing for the North America West Indies Rugby Association (NAWIRA) Championships, to be played in the Cayman Islands from July 4 to 11.
Hearing of the T&T Rugby Football Union’s concern for the return to T&T of Johnny Appleby, who is of local parentage and resides in England, Warner immediately expressed an interest to help and has finalised arrangements for the youngsters’ return. Appleby will arrive in T&T in early July to join the squad for its last month of preparations for the Championship.
It is felt that his participation in the tournament will be of tremendous benefit to the T&T team. The squad has been hard at training under coach, Sean O’Farrell, and the watchful eyes of new Manager, Gregory Rousseau. The winner Under-19 NAWIRA Championships will represent the region at the International Rugby Boards (IRB) 2010 Under 20 World Cup Trophy Championships.
