Defence Force FC has it's radar set on the 2010 season and the Tetron based boys are hoping to build on last season's success of their First Citizens Cup with three titles this year. "Our main focus this year is to win the League, so we can return to representing Trinidad and Tobago on the Concacaf level.
In addition we are hoping to retain the First Citizens Cup, as well as claim the FA Trophy. These three trophies are vital to our club and proving our worth, and if anything else comes our way, we will be thankful for it just like Joe Public did last season," said former goalkeeper and now head coach Ross Russell.
Defence Force defeated Bmobile Joe Public 1-0 in the Final of the First Citizens Cup thanks to a late Richard Roy item, but had a disappointing League run finishing sixth. Defence Force will begin it's 2010 pre-season following the Carnival season and despite the early start by some other clubs, Russell is confident his players will be more than physically ready.
Russell is also looking to add new names to his squad for the upcoming season. He said: "We are looking to build from our youth programs–the reserve and junior league. We have about seven players in recruitment at the moment and hopefully their training will finish by the end of this month so that they can join our team training."
