The Soca Warriors will be hoping to end a two-match losing streak, when they face minnows Belize at the Fifa Goal Project in Belmopan, Belize, from 4 pm, (6 pm TT) today. On Tuesday last, the Soca Warriors suffered a second straight defeat, 3-0 away to Panama at the Rommel Fernandez Stadium, Panama City, as they continued their preparations for the Digicel Caribbean Cup Second Round qualifiers at home from November, 2-6. The defeat for T&T coach Russell Latapy followed a 3-1 loss to Jamaica at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya on August 11. The last win for the Soca Warriors came at Macoya on July 21, 4-1 over Antigua & Barbuda.
Tonight's meeting with Belize will be the first between both countries with the Fifa 76th ranked Soca Warriors favoured to come out on top against the 180th ranked Central American outfit. Speaking via telephone prior the the T&T squad's training session at the Goal Project venue yesterday, Soca Warriors manager, David Muhammad said the team was eager to get back to winning ways. "We had some time to analyse what went wrong against Panama and the guys are all keen to get back on track with regards to their Digicel Caribbean Cup preparations.
"The mood of the players is good and since the match on Tuesday we have done a lot of team introspection and had some long discussions among players and staff about what we need to improve on." "We are all keenly looking forward to the match against Belize as the guys want to pick back up that winning attitude ahead of our next match," added Muhammad. Following today's encounter, the Soca Warriors will return home tomorrow ahead of four other international friendly matches against Antigua & Barbuda (September 17), St Lucia (September 21), Guyana (September 26), Bermuda (October 6) and four days later away to Jamaica.
