Soca Warriors midfielder, LA Galaxy midfielder, Christopher Birchall will miss the Digicel Caribbean Cup Finals in Martinique from next Friday due to club commitments. The combative Birchall, a member of T&T's World Cup at Germany 2006 was invited by the Soca Warriors technical staff to join up with the team ahead of their matches in the eight-team final against Cuba, Grenada and hosts Martinique. However, the request for Birchall was turned down by the Bruce Arena-coached LA Galaxy as he is expected to travel with the team for a tour of Australia.
San Jose Earthquakes striker Cornell Glen is also still unavailable as he continues to recover from an injury picked up two months ago.
Commenting on the non availability of Birchall who featured in his team's 3-0 loss to FC Dallas in the MLS Western Conference Finals on Sunday night, Soca Warriors manager, David Muhammad said: "We have been communicating with Chris and unfortunately he has not been released by LA Galaxy. "This is because they have asked him to be part of their squad for a visit to Australia just prior to the start of the Digicel Caribbean Cup," added Muhammad.
