La Brea All Stars and Joe Public Super League squad will hope to continue their fairy-tale run when the T&T Football Federation FA Trophy quarterfinals take place today with two double-headers. Of the eight teams left in the competition, All Stars and Joe Public are the only clubs not attached to the Digicel Pro League. All Stars were winners of the Southern Football Association FA competition and booked a place as one of its three representatives while Joe Public qualified via the Super League knockout competition.
The six other clubs of the Pro League are current leaders, with six-time winner Defence Force ( (1974, 1981, 1985, 1989, 1991 & 1996), Jabloteh, tournament winners in 1998 and 2005; DirecTV North East Stars, winner in 2003; St Ann's Rangers and Caledonia AIA, champion in 2008. Tonight, All Stars, backed by a very experienced coaching staff inclusive of former former "Strike Squad" members Floyd Lawrence and Philbert Jones, face an under-strength Jabloteh in the second match of a double-header at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva from 7 pm. La Brea is coming off a 3-2 extra-time win over Queen's Park in the round-of-16 while Jabloteh blanked title-holder and four-time FA winner Joe Public 2-0 in extra-time with goals from national Under-20 striker, Jerrel Britto and Jason Marcano.
