There was much to cheer about when the Guardian Media Limited (GML) Sports Club team made their presence felt at the Youth Run For Cause 5K Road Race which took place at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain on Sunday.
Its members took some time off from their media duties, and left a lasting impression, first by being the largest team to participate at the event with 21 members, and then there were quite a few outstanding performances on the road individually after everyone completed the race.
The event provided a tremendous opportunity to show of support for the issues currently affecting young people in T&T.
Meanwhile, Alex Ekesa was the winner in the men’s race, finishing in a time of 15 minutes and 27 seconds. He was followed in second place by Lionel Dandrade in 16:16 and third Christopher Mitchell (16:39).
Among the women’s participants, Simone Capiatha claimed the gold medal in 21:42, with Ifeula Gooding and Jinay Gooding securing the second and third places respectively in times of 22:23 and 22:28.
