Shackiel Henry and Derrel Garcia each scored a brace in Palo Seco Trippy Football Club’s (FC) commanding 4-0 win over Cedros Pirates in the third Deportivo Point Fortin (PF) Community Football League on Friday night.
This was in the second match of a double-header at the Mahaica Sporting Complex in the Philbert Jones Group (B). Earlier, Mahaica FC sealed a second huge win in as many matches in the Leroy De Leon Group (A), 5-1 against Fanny Village United.
For Palo Seco, Henry sent the ball into the net on either side of the half, marking his second and third goals of the season. He scored in Palo Seco’s opening 5-1 win against Cochrane Challengers.
Henry’s opening goal came in the 31st minute to give Trippy FC a 1-0 lead at the half. Two minutes into the resumption, he netted his second.
Garcia joined him on the scoresheet, producing his opening item and his team’s third in the 58th before sealing the win in the 88th to send Trippy FC to the top of Group B with six points.
In the first match of the night, Mahaica FC, who sits at the head of Group A also with six points, secured its second win. The host team had five different players on target in the lopsided affair.
Ezekiel Kesar opened the scoring as early as the seventh minute but Fanny Village got the equaliser some 21 minutes later off Aaron Alexander (28th).
Jeremiah Niles returned the lead to Mahaica moments later to put his team ahead 2-1 in the 32nd and just before the close of the half, Josiah Ochoa put in another in the 44th to give Mahaica a 3-1 lead.
On the resumption, Fanny Village did well to restrict its opponent as it fought hard to make a comeback but could not find the back of the net.
It lasted until the 73rd minute when Mahaica got its fourth item from Keron Gaskin and then, Jahmali Cobham put the icing on the cake in the 89th as Fanny Village slumped to another four-goal defeat after losing to defending champion Guapo Uprising Youths, 4-0, in their opener in week one.
In Saturday’s matches at La Brea recreational ground, La Brea Allstars got its first win of the season beating Egypt United, 3-0. This after drawing with Point Ligoure United, 2-2, in week two action. In the opening match on Saturday, Vance River Ballstars was again held, this time by (Pace) Lakeview United, 2-2. Last week, Lakeview’s match against New Village ended tied, 1-1.
