Skemeka Hoyte, Judah Neverson and Aaron Matas led a list of outstanding performers who were crowned champions at the end of the T&T Cycling Federation's Youth National Track Cycling Championships for Tinymites and Youth Developers at the Irwin Park Sports Complex in Siparia over the weekend.
The others, Zephaniah Alexander-Smith (Boys' U-7), Melina Lopez (Girls' U-9), Adiosie Lewis (Boys' U-9), Kyra Williams (Girls' U-13) and Alexia Wilson (Tinymites), all stood out in their respective categories over the two days.
Hoyte, the Girls' Under-11 ace, claimed victories in the Scratch Race and Keirin before she teamed up with sister Shemaiah for the Youth Developers' Girls' Team Sprint win in a time of 32.75 for Team Vapor Wake Multisport. And later, the duo was joined by their teammate Kyra Williams to seal the win in the Youth Developers' Girls' Team Pursuit.
Neverson (Rigtech Sonics) was unbeaten in the individual events, clinching the Boys' U-13 scratch and keirin events, but he stumbled in the Youth Developers' team sprint race by finishing fourth in a group that comprised Kevin Lewis and Akim Morgan.
However, Neverson made amends in the Tinymite team pursuit for Rigtech Sonics by winning the gold.
Meanwhile, Matas and Jarel Mohammed were also crowned national champs. Matas won the Match Sprint for Rigtech Sonics in the Tinymites division, but Mohammed, the Tinymites rider who represented Southclaine, was victorious in the scratch, keirin, Points Race.
