Boxing returns to the Jean Pierre Complex in Mucurapo for the National Championship, October 31- November 3.
However, officials are now contemplating if the Mucurapo facility will be suitable.
There are concerns the lighting at the complex may not be conducive for a sport where fighters face physical harm.
President of the T&T Boxing Association Cecil Forde is expected to monitor the situation over the next few days to determine if any change in venue will be necessary.
Forde speaking at a press conference at Smokey and Bunty Bar on Ariapita Avenue, Port of Spain on Thursday said the national championship will be particularly special this year, as it will be used to select the team to represent T&T at the Caribbean Championship next year, and then the Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan.
T&T's Olympic boxer Nigel Paul is set to have a free reign at the championship with literally no competition in his division. But as he prepares to make his appearances at the four-day tournament, some of the country's top fighters are expected to stand-out, such as welterweight fighter Michael Alexander, who won gold at the Battle of Islands Creole Boxing Championship in St Maarten earlier this year.
Forde said at the Caribbean Championship, Paul will receive the type of preparation he needs for the Olympics.
The bulky Paul told Guardian Media Sports afterwards, that he is a lot more experienced now going into the Tokyo Olympics than he was four years in Brazil in 2016. "In the last Olympics, I had just about 10 fights, but now I have had sufficient fights. Expectedly, I will go into the Olympics with the memory of what happened the last time, but I feel confident under my team Ralston Dopwell and Reynold Cox, that I will do much better," Paul said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Kirt Sinnette, who is one of just three T&T fighters to have qualified for an Olympics, said he is expecting to see more international fighters with T&T parentage showing themselves, for the opportunity to compete at an Olympic Games.
