Trainer Michael Lutchman was the toast of Santa Rosa Park, Arima on Saturday winning the feature race with the four-year-old filly Patta Patta and landing three more winners on the day.
Day 17 of the Arima Race Club's (ARC) racing season will resonate in the mind of Lutchman as he showed all and sundry that he continues to work to be the best in his profession.
Lutchman began the day on the right foot landing the opener with Kobe and Ricky Jadoo. He came back three races later to land Davinci Code, who returned to the winner's enclosure under a magnificent ride by Nobel Abrego.
The following race saw the same result but on this occasion, it was Blue Agave who gave Abrego a double. Could Lutchamn land a hattrick of winners, in the next? The well-backed 4-1 shot Patta Patta won the feature event for Lutchman giving him his fourth success on the seven-race card.
What a day for Lutchman!
The last time Lutchman had a good day, he won two races with Jadoo. On Saturday, Jadoo teamed up once again to win the opener.
Lutchman continued to show his skill when he landed four-year-old Patta Patta to win the sixth event in ARC's seven-race programme.
Guardian Media Sports spoke to Lutchman yesterday and he said, "Hard work really pays off! I am very happy for the jockeys, grooms and owners in my stable. We have a great relationship. It was indeed a great day for me to win four races out of seven and that included the feature event with Patta Patta. I must say to have the two oldest and best jockeys riding in my stable is superb and both won for me yesterday.
"It was great to see Jadoo and Kobe powering home in the opener before Abrego landed a great one on Davinci Code. Blue Agave gave me so much love when he took the fifth race, you will not believe. But Patta Patta gave me such joy to see her win the feature. She is on the upgrade and will run a big race in the Stewards Cup once she comes out of this race well. She quickened well and stayed on really strongly for her win, with Making Headlines coming at her in second. I am really proud of the job of my team. I take this opportunity to thank them."
He has a niche for catching the late developers as he has shown with Davinci Code, Atta Girl Silvy and Pawan Putra.
Lutchman, who was a very good rider in his days, received his license to train in 2019 and has now landed 26 winners. Lutchman, who is very professional in his undertakings, told Guardian Media that his success was team-oriented.
"I have a good working team and they are responsible for my success. My circle work for the best of the stable and as such we get the best from the horses," said Lutchman, who landed his first winner with Nabawi in 2019 is looking forward to further success in his career.
