De­noon broth­ers, Dun­ston and David, of To­ba­go, were among the four qual­i­fiers for the Ten­nis As­so­ci­a­tion of T&T (TATT) Open Sin­gles Tour­na­ment when the two-day qual­i­fy­ing tour­na­ment end­ed on Sat­ur­day on the Ed­die Tay­lor Pub­lic Courts, King George V Park, St Clair on Sat­ur­day. Af­ter com­ing through Fri­day's first day of qual­i­fy­ing, Dun­ston De­noon then had wins over At­i­ba Phillip (4-1, 4-1) na­tion­al Un­der-14 ti­tle-hold­er, Jualon Greig 4-1, 4-0 to se­cure a pas­sage to the main draw, which serves off on Fri­day.

Dun­ston's el­der broth­er, David was equal­ly as im­pres­sive as he whipped Bran­don Lewis 4-0, 4-1 and then dis­missed Chad Pi­ral­li 5-3, 4-1 in his two match­es on Sat­ur­day. Join­ing the De­noon's in the 16-play­er main draw were St Lu­cian, Mc Collin Fontenelle and Jo­vani Lewis. Among the women, for­mer na­tion­al cham­pi­on, Re­nee Branker is the top seed with 17-year-old Lee-Anne Lin­go seed­ed No Two. Trevine Sel­l­i­er and Nali­ni Ma­haraj round out the top four play­ers.
