?The national volleyball fraternity was plunged into mourning yesterday with the accidental death of 29-year-old Mark Anthony Daly. Daly died yesterday in a vehicular accident on the Solomon Hochoy Highway. Daly began his volleyball career while at school before joining the UTC Rockets, which was based in Skinner Park, San Fernando. In a bid to broaden his playing horizons, Daly left Rockets and joined Glamorgan and from there his playing career sky rocketed and he was selected for the national team.
He was subsequently named the captain of the team and maintained a high level of play. According to a release from the volleyball association, Daly was well loved and respected on and off the court, not only earning but demanding everyone's respect. "He played the game with great heart and spirit and warmed the heart of everyone who met him." He transferred from Glamorgan to Technocrats where he helped Technocrats to become national champions. Mark leaves to mourn his girlfriend, national hockey player, Kecia Jones and their baby girl.
