?The na­tion­al vol­ley­ball fra­ter­ni­ty was plunged in­to mourn­ing yes­ter­day with the ac­ci­den­tal death of 29-year-old Mark An­tho­ny Daly. Daly died yes­ter­day in a ve­hic­u­lar ac­ci­dent on the Solomon Ho­choy High­way. Daly be­gan his vol­ley­ball ca­reer while at school be­fore join­ing the UTC Rock­ets, which was based in Skin­ner Park, San Fer­nan­do. In a bid to broad­en his play­ing hori­zons, Daly left Rock­ets and joined Glam­or­gan and from there his play­ing ca­reer sky rock­et­ed and he was se­lect­ed for the na­tion­al team.

He was sub­se­quent­ly named the cap­tain of the team and main­tained a high lev­el of play. Ac­cord­ing to a re­lease from the vol­ley­ball as­so­ci­a­tion, Daly was well loved and re­spect­ed on and off the court, not on­ly earn­ing but de­mand­ing every­one's re­spect. "He played the game with great heart and spir­it and warmed the heart of every­one who met him." He trans­ferred from Glam­or­gan to Tech­nocrats where he helped Tech­nocrats to be­come na­tion­al cham­pi­ons. Mark leaves to mourn his girl­friend, na­tion­al hock­ey play­er, Ke­cia Jones and their ba­by girl.
