Green Marines—winners in the junior category are happy and positive after a team talk.

Green Marines and Couva West emerged winners in the first-ever Women Uniting in Netball programme hosted by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs in Central Trinidad. The mini-tournament was held on Saturday. Green Marines won the senior category and the junior title was captured by Couva West.

Netballers between the ages seven to 17 years old enjoyed the atmosphere of camaraderie. In addition to promoting the game in an area not traditionally known to produce players, the event featured six teams both from schools and communities from the Caroni District.

The young netballers were visited by members of the national Under-20 netball team who spoke about their experiences and gave some playing tips. A number of the girls who participated in the tournament were selected to try out for the national U-16 team.
