National player Janelle Barker had a game-high 23 to help University of T&T (UTT) sweep defending champion Fire in their two meetings as play in the Courts All Sectors Netball Championship division continued on Saturday night at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Facility, Tacarigua on Saturday night.
Barker playing in the goal shoot position was 23-34 as UTT held off a late rally from Fire to come away with a 44-40 win. This was a better effort from the defending champion, after they were beaten 53-37 in the first meeting in round one. She received support from goal attack Jillisa Allan (14-19) and goal shoot Samantha Wallace who is usually a top shooter chipped in with (7-9). UTT is now assured the league title with a game remaining. Goal shoot Simone Morgan (23-41) and goal attack Joelisa Cooper (17-21) were the main contributors for Fire.
Meanwhile Police also completed a sweep over Defence Force winning their second meeting 40-33, after defeating its rivals 38-34 in the first game. Goal shoot Euphemia Huggins (15-29) and goal shoot Gursher Grant (13-16) were the main scorers for the winners, while goal shoot Anastacia Wilson led Defence Force with a game-high (23-32). In the Alternative division X, Bermudez continued its unbeaten run with a 39-35 win over F-Ideas.
