Point Fortin East and St Madeleine Sec­ondary Schools marched on to the quar­ter­fi­nal round of the Co­ca-Co­la In­ter­col Play-Off in sim­i­lar fash­ions yes­ter­day in their re­spec­tive South Zone match­es of the Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League.

Akiel Vasprey con­tin­ued his rich goal-scor­ing form with a beaver trick to help Point Fortin East march on from the ear­ly round of the In­ter­col Play-Off, with a con­vinc­ing 8-0 vic­to­ry over Fyz­abad An­gli­can Sec­ondary at Clifton Hill.

Vasprey's goal-scor­ing as­set had been the one thing that the Point Fortin men were hop­ing for, and they got it. His four goals were com­pli­ment­ed by oth­er items from Rick­el Ram­go­sine, Ruben Phillip, Ser­ry­on Mitchell and Ja­mal Seep­er­sad.

How­ev­er, it now puts them in line to face south­ern cham­pi­on Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege (San Fer­nan­do) in the first match of a dou­ble­head­er at Ma­haica Oval on Thurs­day.  

St Madeleine Sec­ondary al­so moved on by virtue of ham­mer­ing Princes Town Sec­ondary, 7-0, cour­tesy of dou­ble strikes from Ki­a­heem Dy­er and Ka­reem Stew­art.

Ja­mali Bar­clay, Tyrell Dyette and Adriel Achev­er­ro scored the oth­er goals to com­plete their pas­sage in­to the quar­ters, where they face an in­tim­i­dat­ing task against Tiger Tanks Pre­mier Di­vi­sion cham­pi­on St Bene­dict's Col­lege in the sec­ond match of a dou­ble­head­er at Ma­haica.

De­spite the un­pre­dictabil­i­ty of the In­ter­col, St Madeleine coach An­ton Quashie said they will be fac­ing the storm af­ter the calm.

Fa­ti­ma be­gins quest for glo­ry

Mean­while, to­day in the North Zone, Fa­ti­ma Col­lege, the los­ing fi­nal­ist in the pre­mier di­vi­sion fi­nal, will be­gin their cam­paign for In­ter­col glo­ry against Blan­chisseuse Sec­ondary at St Mary's Col­lege from 3.30 pm, while at the same time, Queen's Roy­al Col­lege, con­sid­ered un­der-achiev­ers in the pre­mier di­vi­sion, will be­gin their quest for In­ter­col suc­cess against Tran­quil­i­ty Sec­ondary at Fa­ti­ma Col­lege ground.  

QRC was fourth in Group B of the pre­mier­ships di­vi­sion and will be hop­ing to make amends, while Blan­chisseuse will try to con­tin­ue their win­ning ways, since beat­ing Trin­i­ty Col­lege Mo­ka in their open­ing match.

In two oth­er match­es, East Mu­cu­rapo and St An­tho­ny's Col­lege will tan­gle in the first match of a dou­ble­head­er at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um in Mu­cu­rapo from 2 pm, while at 4 pm- Mal­ick Sec­ondary will take on St Mary's Col­lege.
