Precision Cyber Technologies won their final two matches to capture the first title at stake in the 32-teams BMW/Johnnie Walker-sponsored Queen’s Park (QP) Cricket Club Eight-A-Side Members’ Football Tournament at the Queen’s Park Oval, Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain, last week.
Locked in a keen battle with Johhny Q for title honours, Precision Cyber first blanked bMobile Business 2-0 with goals from Richard Smith and Kevin Ollivierra before Smith got the lone item in a 1-0 triumph against Carib to end 16 points from seven matches on the eight-team table, level with Carib, but with a superior goal-difference of plus-12 to the “Brewery Boys” plus-eight while Carib ended third with 13 points, two ahead of Ultimate Events ahead of their “Big-Four.”
Johnny Q also won their final two league matches, 2-0 over Ultimate Events led by a double from Jeffrey Dalton-Brown, and BMW by a 3-0 margin with Anderson Abraham scoring twice, and Dalton-Brown, the other.
The quartet of The Mini Bar, BMW, bMobile Business, and Blazerz Sports Bar the other teams in the 46-53 Division will contest a ‘Big-Four’ losers competition as well.
Elsewhere, Jason Devenish scored his third hat trick and Devin Santos his first for their respective clubs.
Playing in the Under-35 Division, Devenish of F3 Total Fitness followed up his first-round trebles against Harts in a 3-0 win and another against Tribe in a 6-0 drubbing with his second hat-trick in as many clashes with Harts in a 6-0 victory while he added one goal to his tally, and Andrew Merry the other in a 2-0 defeat of Johnnie Walker to lead the seven club table with 21 points from eight matches, two ahead Aioli Marketplace followed by Trader James with 16, Harts with 15 and JES Foundation with 12 in the race for the title.
Ansa Merchant leads the 36-45 Division with 16 points from eight matches despite playing to 1-1 draws in three straight matches, but Dominos and CMB are hot on heels with 14 points apiece, and Seaboard, a further three points back with two matches left for each team.
All Out stayed top of the 54-60 age group with 18 points from eight matches, one more than Talon Well Services thanks to a 4-0 blanking of Carpenter’s Edge led by a brace from Gary Hector, and one each from Paul Jones, and Stephen Cardenas.
However, the trio of House Hunters (14), Stihl (11), and Fat Boys (11) are still in the hunt as well.
Murphyclarke is well on course to capturing the Over-60 Division title after picking up four points in their last two matches, a 0-0 draw with Sprint Maintenance Services, and a 1-0 win against Cookin Vibez via a strike from Richard Jardine to move to 17 points from seven matches, five ahead of Sprint Maintenances Services who have played the same number of matches.
And in the Women’s Division, Pre-Hab Services topped the four-club round-robin series with six points, one ahead of Huggins Shipping whom they will meet in the tournament final on Friday, October 14, with Score 4 Cancer and Global Financial Brokers meeting for the third spot.
