T&T's crown prince of professional boxing, WBF International Lightweight champion, Prince-Lee Isidore, return to the ring has been delayed due to the card being cancelled.
This was revealed by promoters Bharrath Ramoutar, Ria Ramnarine of Fine Line Fight Promotions and Teivy Bush-Fight, a supervisor from Lionstone Entertainment' during on Friday’s press conference at the gym in the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, Port-of-Spain.
The main reasons for the cancellation were because of lack of funds and visa problems.
Isidore was expected to take on Mexican Emmanuel Herrera. They were scheduled to do battle for ten rounds, to determine who takes the RBO Intercontinental Lightweight Title.
Isidore, considered T&T's top pro boxing prospect, was determined to make another successful entry in the ring. His last outing earned him a well-deserved victory after an entertaining ten-round clash against Venezuelan Antonio Armas. The Chaguanas-based boxer is trained by Bharrath Ramoutar at Fine Line Fight Factory and had been preparing for the past several months for this title bout. The match, originally scheduled for June 29 but was postponed a few times for different reasons.
The main event which got support from the T&T government to the tune of $75,000 was set to feature the return of American-Trinidadian Lorissa Rivas, who was to square off against Canadian Claire Hafner. Rivas was hoping to capture the WBC world heavyweight title.
The supporting card was to include three bouts, a grudge match between Joel “the Matador” Mcrae and Nigel “Cow” Edwards, long-time boxer, Kerston Manswell was also to be back in the ring for an eight-round bout against an opponent to be named and pro debutants Yuray Cisnero and Aaron Williams were carded to meet in a four-round light heavyweight scrap.
The event was also being promoted by Matthew Collins of the Las Vegas-based Lion Stone Entertainment and local promotion outfit and Fine Line Fight Promotions.
