T&T’s net­baller Kali­fa Mc Collin and her benecos Mav­er­icks missed out on qual­i­fi­ca­tion to the semi­fi­nal stage of this year’s Vi­tal­i­ty Su­per League Net­ball af­ter a 47-49 loss to UWS Sirens on Thurs­day.

Mav­er­icks went in­to the fi­nal round match need­ing a win to have any hope of qual­i­fi­ca­tion and at the end of the first quar­ter led 14-13.

The sec­ond pe­ri­od was just as close with both clubs go­ing goal for goal to go in­to the half-time 25-24 in favour of Mav­er­icks.

How­ev­er, the host lift­ed their game in the third pe­ri­od and outscored the vis­i­tors 15-10 to take a 39-35 ad­van­tage in­to the fi­nal pe­ri­od.

Mav­er­icks’ be­hind the ef­forts of goal shoot, Karyn Bai­ley and Mc Collin, man­aged to win the quar­ter, but their 12-10 mar­gin was not enough as they fell by three goals to end the cam­paign with four straight de­feats and a 10-8 record for 30 points.

Mc Collin who made her league de­but last year with Celtic Drag­ons and was their top scor­er with 526 goals from 567 at­tempts, the sixth best in the com­pe­ti­tion end­ed her first sea­son with the Mav­er­icks with 225 goals from 265 at­tempts at 85 per cent shoot­ing av­er­age while Bai­ley tal­lied 671 goals from 739 at­tempts at 91 per cent.

At the top of the ta­ble is Wasps Net­ball with 45 points from a 15-2 record, three ahead of Lough­bor­ough Light­ning (14-3) and Man­ches­ter Thun­der (14-3) while Team Bath is the team in the fourth and fi­nal play­off semi­fi­nal spot with an 11-6 mark and 33 points ahead of their fi­nal round-robin match­es to­day and to­mor­row.
