Shalini Samaroo, Shunelle Sawh, Djenaba Joseph, Kd Jazz Mitchell, Samara Ramnath and Brianna Harricharan, who were part of the victorious T&T Under-19 team that won the 2022 Rising Star Regional U-19 tournament in T&T, have been named on the 14-member T&T Red Force women's team for the CG United Super50 Cup and T20 Blaze regional tournament in St Kitts from March 4-26.
Harricharan, 15, and 16-year-old Ramnath are the youngest players in the squad which departs on March 1 to Antigua and then on to St Kitts ahead of a practice day on March 3.
The Red Force Divas will be led by experienced Britney Cooper with bowler Karishma Ramharack serving as vice-captain. The team also includes veteran players Lee Ann Kirby (batter) and Kirbyina Alexander (bowler) along with seasoned players, bowlers Caneisha Isaac and Steffi Soogrim.
The Divas will take the field against Barbados, who is the defending champion in both the CG United Super50 Cup and T20 Blaze. The other teams are Guyana, Jamaica, Windward Islands and hosts Leeward Islands.
The CG United Super50 Cup matches will be played at three venues – Warner Park, the Conaree Cricket Centre, and St Paul’s Sports Complex – from March 4-13 with matches starting at 10 am (T&T time). The T20 Blaze will run from March 17-25 at Warner Park with three matches per day – starting at 10 am, 2.30 pm and 7 pm.
