WELLINGTON – Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls endured a tough outing in the recently concluded Fast5 Netball World Series finishing sixth after failing to win a single match in New Zealand.
In their playoff for 5th/6th place on Sunday, the Sunshine Girls went down to England 38-36 to end a disappointing campaign where they lost all six of their matches.
The tournament was won by Australia for a third straight year after they completed a memorable 34-30 comeback win against New Zealand to claim the title.
Uganda placed third after defeating South Africa 46-42.
On Friday’s opening day Jamaica suffered a nightmare start, going down to New Zealand 39-19, losing to England 35-15 and being defeated by South Africa 33-25.
They didn’t fare any better on Sunday’s final day either, being trounced by Australia 56-39, falling to Uganda 43-26, before losing their final playoff game against England.
