WELLING­TON – Ja­maica’s Sun­shine Girls en­dured a tough out­ing in the re­cent­ly con­clud­ed Fast5 Net­ball World Se­ries fin­ish­ing sixth af­ter fail­ing to win a sin­gle match in New Zealand.

In their play­off for 5th/6th place on Sun­day, the Sun­shine Girls went down to Eng­land 38-36 to end a dis­ap­point­ing cam­paign where they lost all six of their match­es.

The tour­na­ment was won by Aus­tralia for a third straight year af­ter they com­plet­ed a mem­o­rable 34-30 come­back win against New Zealand to claim the ti­tle.

Ugan­da placed third af­ter de­feat­ing South Africa 46-42.

On Fri­day’s open­ing day Ja­maica suf­fered a night­mare start, go­ing down to New Zealand 39-19, los­ing to Eng­land 35-15 and be­ing de­feat­ed by South Africa 33-25.

They didn’t fare any bet­ter on Sun­day’s fi­nal day ei­ther, be­ing trounced by Aus­tralia 56-39, falling to Ugan­da 43-26, be­fore los­ing their fi­nal play­off game against Eng­land.
