Police exhumed yesterday the body of a man in Valencia, who was reportedly chopped to death by two men on September 17, at Palm Trace in the district. The victim has been identified only as Rondell Reyes, also known as "Half-a-Man." His decomposed corpse was found in a grave at Nicholas Trace by officers of the Eastern Division Task Force, shortly after 2 pm yesterday.
Police said Reyes' body bore multiple chop wounds to the head, hands, chest and back. They added that a 21-year-old man living in the community gave them information on the killing last Friday. He remains in police custody. Officers are expected to seek advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) later today, after an autopsy.
A blood-stained cutlass, believed to be the murder weapon, has been seized by investigators. Another man who remained at large is wanted by police in connection with the incident. ASP Johnny Abraham, Insps Stanley Ramdeen and Allan Ramai and PC Sunil Ramoutar visited the scene.
