The National Carnival Commission (NCC) is still working with Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism Lincoln Douglas on the allocation of prize money for Carnival competitions. "The NCC had proposed an overall increase for Carnival 2013 for the sum of $27.3 million and we are very pleased that Cabinet had acceded to our request," said chairman Allison Demas.
"In relation to prize money, we are working on those details with the minister so that soon we can say exactly what those prizes would be." Demas made the statements yesterday while addressing the media at a joint press conference with Port-of-Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing.
