The T&T Police Band, led by Acting Director, Supt. (Ag) Wayne Nimblette, recently premiered a cover version of the USA for Africa classic, We Are the World. The music video, released on July 11, contains a powerful message about love for self and others and caring about life by adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.
The opening verse is vocalised by Sgt Marcelle and PC Villafana accompanied on the drums by WPC Richardson. Although most of the officers are not professional singers or actors, they delivered powerful vocals and drama in the video.
With their music they acknowledge that it is difficult for most citizens as there is no socialising, but to preserve lives, everyone must be wise. The cal to sanitise and wear a mask is delivered by a spirited WPC James.
In chorus, the officers sing: “We are all part of God’s big, great family, and the truth is, love is all we need, so we all must lend a helping hand.”
Footage through the video shows police officers in various acts of charity.
At the end WPC Rivers extends a heartfelt message advising that the T&T Police Service (TTPS) offers the song as a way to encourage everyone follow the public health protocols.
The project was initiated by Cpl Jack and Marcelle, who also did the tracking and production, while W/Cpl Henry and Cpl Moore provided technical support. Also featured in the music video are Insp (Ag) Ochoa, Sgt Urquhart, Sgt (Ag) Bernard-Phillips, Cpls Thomas, Mason, W/Morrison, (Ag) Cambridge and PCs Mitchell, Valentine. WPCs George and Jack.
