Paris Coutain, a rising local star on the comedy circuit, is venturing into music.
The talented 18-year-old recently launched Bout Love on his YouTube channel, a dancehall number fused with rhythm and blues (R&B).
Coutain, who is doing his second year in Fine Arts for the Performing Arts at UTT, said: “I am doing my thing with respect but giving people what they want. As a new artiste with new material, it is harder to get through the doors and challenging to put stuff out on a platform for people to hear it, but I am making sure to get things done. I am not taking no for an answer.”
Coutain’s first break in entertainment came when he won the Mr Sanfest title and he followed up as comedian Learie Joseph’s supporting lead in Randy Glasgow Production Alternative International Comedy Festival last year.
“Personally I choose music because I can be myself more,” he said. “With music, you will see Parris and get a good feel of him as a person. I am though, still balancing my degree and launching my second song with a music video in October.
“I am particular about what I do, so it has to be correct, it has to be good. I am working on a catalogue of songs and I will choose, which is the best to release at the time, although I am feeling the song, Lust. I am learning as I go along because I am doing all the marketing and promoting and everything for myself.”
Coutain said COVID-19 slowed his growth but is not going to limit what he wants to do. His mission is to get his music out there and to gain popularity for the brand he is creating.
