Passed away peacefully at his home in Tunapuna,Trinidad on Sunday 10th January,2021.Loving husband of Velma Rampersad(deceased). He will be remembered
by his 7 beloved children Sita Seepaulsingh (Fl), Lila DeLeon (NY),Bindra “Abbott” Rampersad (NY),Dinesh Rampersad, Kadar Rampersad (deceased), Sunil Rampersad (Fl) and Ashma Gosein. “Coach” as he was affectionately called was a devoted grandfather of 22 loving grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was the last surviving sibling of his family of 6. He will forever be remembered for his stellar contribution and commitment to the sport of cricket. His passion for cricket started at the age of 9 and he continued to play during high school where he became captain at 17 years old. Into adulthood he coached many national West Indies and International cricketers. He was a former Chairman of the East St.George County council and served his community with pride for two terms. Through the love of cricket “Coach” travelled to many Caribbean islands and overseas promoting the sport and was responsible for starting cricket clubs in New York. He was instrumental in working closely with mayor Mike Bloomberg who gave the club their own cricket grounds for use and promotion of the sport in New York. He was loved by many and was a dear friend to many in Trinidad, New York, Canada and beyond. As the patriarch of the family and a valued member of his community he will be greatly missed.
