Shipping company Amerijet has invested approximately US$1.5 million to US $2 million in T&T as it enters into the lease of an office located on Victoria Avenue, Port-of-Spain, to establish a shared services centre.
This is expected to generate 25 jobs in the first instance and eventually expand to 50.
The centre will primarily support internal accounts payable/receivable and revenue accounting functions, as well as project management/business intelligence functions of Amerijet, which are presently provided out of its Miami hub.
John Hagan, director of revenue accounting, and Simon Pantin, head of global account programme development of Amerijet recently met with Trade Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon to provide some details on the operations expected to start in Q1, 2023.
“Amerijet International has been serving T&T for more than 30 years and has always been impressed with the quality of potential employees, when looking to fill positions locally.
“We are excited with the establishment of our new shared services centre and look forward to growing with the people of this amazing country,” Pantin said.
Gopee-Scoon also welcomed Amerijet’s new investment which she noted reflected the US-based company’s ongoing confidence in doing business in this country.
InvesTT’s president Sekou Alleyne added that the organisation looks forward to further engagement with Amerijet and its potential for future expansion under the Special Economic Zone.
